Nettlefold Projects was engaged by the mineral processing provider Sedgman to perform key project works for the 2018 Caval Ridge Coal Project. Operating within Queensland’s Bowen Basin under the BHP Billiton & Mitsubishi Alliance joint venture (BMA), the project scope required an overland coal processing conveyor to be constructed from the adjacent Peak Downs mine.
As the Lead Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Commissioning Engineer, we assisted in the commissioning of the overland transfer conveyor systems, including two 11 KV substations (transformers incoming and feeder protection), HV overhead protection, fire systems, hydraulic units, Austdac conveyor protection, I/O and field instrumentation.
We were also appointed as the Engineering Supervisor (as per section 9 of the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act 1999) and tasked with managing construction quality throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with Australian and BMA standards at every step.
